IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THIS WEEKEND
I was informed Tuesday that last Sunday, I had been in the presence of someone who, on Tuesday, tested positive for Covid. This individual was tested as a routine matter of their position in a Connecticut hospital and NOT because of symptoms. For the remainder of the week, I stayed in the rectory, going out only on Thursday to be tested for the infection. Yesterday (Friday), I was informed that the test failed because the testing kit used was expired. So I have to be tested again. However, the weekend is upon us.
I am fully vaccinated. I have been deliberately assessing my health these past days and have none of the common symptoms of infection, especially no rise in temperature. However, out of an abundance of caution, I wanted to make you aware.
So...I will celebrate Masses this weekend but with no contact with anyone. Mass will be as brief as it was during the height of the pandemic, and, of course, I will not be distributing communion. I will only say a very few words by way of a homily, from a distance.
If you prefer to attend Mass elsewhere this weekend (but how can you resist a brief Mass and barely a homily?), then, by all means, do so. But, please, attend Mass somewhere. Participation at Mass is the source and nourishment of our life of faith.
Msgr. John

NEWS AND UPDATES
Renovation Work at St Ann
Emergency renovation work continues at St Ann to button up the fabric of our 1911 Church. Currently, the masons are fixing the grout around the church's outside walls.
Eventually, some of the stone on the roof will be replaced and made weather tight. Recent storms have alerted us to places where water infiltrates church. The wall damage that can be seen in a few places on the church walls will be repaired and readied for painting.
The flat roofs over each sacristy, which have leaked and been repaired off and on over the years, will be stripped completely, the roof structures repaired as needed, and covered with new membrane.
All work should be completed by the beginning of December.
THANK YOU
A huge THANK YOU to both the Lenox Community Preservation Committee for recommending and to the town meeting for approving a gift of $100,000 to St Ann Church for our current renovation effort. The parish of St Ann is very grateful.
Bereavement Ministry
We are actively planning to develop a Bereavement Ministry outreach effort for our parishes, to complement the other ministries we currently have in place. St Patrick and St Ann both have Circle of Friends ministries who arrange for after-funeral receptions in their parish centers. In addition, we offer a workshop every two years with a panel of experts to discuss end-of-life planning. We want to add a few things, especially a Support Group. If you have some ideas or would like to help plan this or other outreach efforts, call Debbie (413-637-0157).
Our streamed Mass was not available last weekend because both our videographers were unavailable. We can use more parishioners, of any age, who would like to be trained to use the equipment. In addition to the 4:00pm Mass on Saturday, we have streamed a few funerals for families who could not travel during the pandemic. I am sure wedding requests will not be too far in the future. So...we can really use your help. Please consider joining our team.
A Prayer...
