THE FIFITH SUNDAY OF LENT

"Unbind him and let him walk free!"

John 11:44

What does it mean to walk free in societies and cultures so shaken by the fear of death? The appalling loss of life in the pandemic, the loss of life in refugee camps' squalor, the deaths from war, and civil disturbance?

Confronting the mystery of death is the journey of Lent at its most crystalline. We humans instinctively believe that death is actual and is an end to everything. It is the Original Sin-the Original LIE. Jesus comes to bring good news that we are wrong. God is not a God of death but of life.

The eyes of faith allow us to see the sacredness of everything around us-even the ugly stuff-even death. And, like with Lazarus, it is a gift freely bestowed, even without asking.

NEWS and UPDATES

NEW SPIRIT RETREAT

We will have an in-person retreat for middle school students on Monday of Holy Week (March 29) from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at St Ann Family Center. Please pray for the success of the retreat that our students might touch the mystery of God's love.

We anxiously await the end of the pandemic and the safe return of all our members. Meanwhile, our parishes' staff have been busy searching for ways to reach out. Below is information about our various initiatives. We hope you find them useful.

NEW TRIPARISH WEBSITE

In order to better serve the needs of our three parishes we have created a new website:

. It is still a work in progress, but we are chipping away. Any suggestions for additions, changes, help, etc., would be gratefully received.

LIVE-STREAMED MASS

We are now live-streaming the 4:00pm Saturday Evening Mass. It is also available to view at your convenience. Just visit our website avptriparish.org.
